Privacy Policy

Hemlock East LLC builds apps that are designed to keep your data on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice.

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Hemlock East LLC (“Hemlock East,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with this website and the mobile applications we develop. Our guiding principle is simple: we collect as little as possible, and wherever we can, your information never leaves your device.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising networks or third-party tracking or analytics SDKs in our apps.

Information our apps handle

Our apps are designed to work on your device. Content and data you create in an app (such as recorded activities or saved lists) are stored locally on your device (and, where you enable it, in Apple’s services such as Apple Health or iCloud, which are governed by Apple’s own privacy policy). We do not operate servers that receive this data, and we cannot see it.

Some apps request access to device capabilities in order to function. When they do, iOS asks for your permission first, and the app explains why. The details for each app are below.

RunApp (working title)

It uses your location (including in the background) to record routes, motion data to estimate cadence and steps, Bluetooth to read a heart-rate strap, and Apple Health to read and save workouts. That information stays on your phone and in Apple Health. Hemlock East never receives it.

NightGlass

It uses your location and your phone's motion sensors to show the sky from where you're standing and to match the view to where you point. That happens entirely on your phone. Hemlock East never receives it.

This website

This website is informational. We do not use it to collect personal information, and there are no marketing cookies or third-party tracking scripts. Our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, so that it can operate and secure the site. That information is not used to identify you.

If you email us, we receive the information you choose to include in your message and use it only to respond to you.

How we use information

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Because our apps keep your data on your device, there is generally nothing for us to share. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

Apple services

Our apps run on Apple platforms and may interact with Apple frameworks such as HealthKit, Location Services, and iCloud. Your use of those services is subject to Apple’s privacy policy. Any health data our apps read or write with your permission is handled by Apple’s HealthKit on your device and is never sold or used for advertising.

Data retention and your choices

Because your app data lives on your device, you remain in control of it. You can revoke any permission at any time in the iOS Settings app, and deleting an app removes the data it stored on your device. You can also ask us, by email, about any information you have sent us directly.

Children’s privacy

Our apps and website are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps evolve. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here on this page.
