Tipping Privacy Policy

This policy covers Tipping, listed on the App Store as Tipping: Easy Tipping Calc, an iPhone app published by Hemlock East LLC (“Hemlock East,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It sits alongside our studio-wide privacy policy; where the two differ, this one governs Tipping.

The short version

• Tipping does not collect any data about you.
• It has no account, no sign-in, and no way to identify you or your device.
• It contains no networking code at all, so nothing it holds can leave your iPhone.
• It asks for no permissions.
• It contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and no third-party SDKs of any kind.
• The bill, tip rate, and split live in memory while the app is open and are gone when it closes. Nothing is written to disk or to iCloud.

What Tipping collects

Nothing. Tipping does not ask for, receive, or store your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location, health data, payment details, advertising identifier, or any other identifier. It keeps no record of what you calculate and builds no profile of you or your device.

What you type, and where it goes

Tipping is a calculator. You enter a bill amount on the app’s own keypad, choose a tip rate, and say how many ways to split it. Those values are held in your iPhone’s memory for as long as the app is open, purely so the app can do the arithmetic and show you the answer. They are not saved to a file, a database, iCloud, or a backup, and they are not sent anywhere. Clearing the bill or closing the app discards them. Tipping deliberately does not remember your last bill, your last tip rate, or anything else between launches; every launch starts at zero.

Tipping also reads your device’s region setting so it can write money the way your currency is written. That happens entirely on your iPhone, using Apple’s built-in formatting, and nothing is reported back to us.

Permissions

Tipping requests no permissions. It does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, Bluetooth, motion sensors, notifications, Apple Health, or the system keyboard, so iOS will never prompt you to grant it access to any of them.

The network

Tipping never connects to the internet. It contains no networking code, no server, and no remote configuration, which means there is no channel over which your information could be transmitted. The app works exactly the same in airplane mode as it does anywhere else.

Third parties

Tipping includes no third-party libraries, software development kits, analytics services, crash reporters, advertising networks, or trackers. Nobody else’s code runs inside it. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information, because we never receive any in the first place.

The App Store

Tipping is distributed through Apple’s App Store, and downloading it is a transaction between you and Apple, governed by Apple’s privacy policy. The app has no in-app purchases or subscriptions, so we never see any payment details.

If you have chosen to share analytics and crash reports with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may give us aggregated statistics such as install counts or crash rates. Apple collects that data, not us; it arrives already grouped, and it does not identify you or contain anything you entered into the app. You can turn it off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

Tipping’s App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected, which is a description of the app as built, not just a promise.

Children’s privacy

Tipping is not directed to children under 13, and because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. We have nothing to delete on a parent’s request, but you are welcome to contact us with any question about this.

Your choices

Since we hold no data about you, there is nothing for you to request, correct, export, or ask us to delete, and nothing we could hand over if we were asked for it. Deleting Tipping from your iPhone removes the app and everything it held. If you email us, we receive only what you choose to put in your message, and we use it solely to answer you.

Changes to this policy

If Tipping ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above before the change ships.
